Viswanathan Anand believes R Praggnanandhaa's recent Norway Chess triumph could be a source of inspiration for D Gukesh, who is currently struggling in form.

Praggnanandhaa became the first Indian chess player to win the Norway chess title, finishing on top of the standings after defeating Vincent Keymer in the final round.

Anand praised Praggnanandhaa's impressive performance, saying he is 'playing the game with some amazingly impressive concepts and style.'

He urged Gukesh to take inspiration from his fellow countryman, saying 'if you persist with hard work then at some point things will change.'

Anand also praised the growth of Indian chess, saying the country is 'definitely in the top three' and has increased its strength significantly, with 95 Grandmasters and a world champion.
