The San Francisco Giants have made a significant addition to their pitching staff, signing right-hander Adrian Houser to a $22 million, two-year contract with a club option for 2028. This move comes on the heels of signing Jason Foley to a $2 million, one-year deal earlier in the week. Houser, 32, had a strong 2025 campaign with the Chicago White Sox and Tampa Bay, going 8-5 with a 3.31 ERA in 21 starts. The Giants' general manager, Zack Minasian, highlighted Houser's impressive performance in challenging environments, as well as his ability to adapt to different roles. Houser's experience pitching for multiple teams, including stints with the Texas Rangers' Triple-A affiliate, the Chicago White Sox, Milwaukee Brewers, and New York Yankees, has prepared him for the demands of the San Francisco lineup. Minasian also expressed optimism about Foley's recovery from shoulder surgery, which limited him to just a few appearances in 2025. Foley, a former closer for the Detroit Tigers, had 28 saves in 2024 before undergoing surgery to repair his anterior capsule. The Giants are confident in Foley's ability to return to form and contribute to the team's bullpen. The signings of Houser and Foley are seen as key moves for the Giants, who are looking to rebuild their roster under new manager Tony Vitello. The team has missed the playoffs for the past four seasons, and these additions are expected to bolster their chances of making a push for the postseason in 2026 and beyond.
