Indian Super League (ISL) clubs have written to the All India Football Federation (AIFF), seeking clarity on the apex body's long-term vision for the country's top domestic competition. The request comes ahead of a key meeting between AIFF representatives and five ISL clubs. The ISL season was put on hold in July due to disagreements over the Master Rights Agreement (MRA) between the league's former organisers and the AIFF. Under the supervision of a Supreme Court-appointed committee, a tender was floated for ISL's commercial rights, but it failed to attract any bidders. In their letter, the ISL clubs have requested a comprehensive briefing on the AIFF's long-term roadmap for Indian football, followed by a presentation on the short-term plan. They have also expressed their desire to share their thoughts and feedback on the proposals. The clubs had previously submitted a proposal for 'perpetual' operational and commercial ownership of the top-tier competition, but it was rejected by the AIFF's General Body. They have reiterated their belief in the proposal and have requested the AIFF to consider it while formulating the long-term plan. Regarding the short-term league proposal, the ISL clubs have sought more detailed information on the revenue model, broadcast arrangements, and cost structure. They have expressed their willingness to participate in the short-term league subject to the availability of these details and alignment with a clear long-term plan. The AIFF panel is scheduled to hold discussions with representatives of five ISL clubs from December 22 to 29. The clubs have expressed their positivity towards participating in the short-term league, subject to the above conditions.
