Italy's bid to defend their Olympic title in mixed doubles curling got off to a rocky start at the Milano Cortina Games. The world champions, Stefania Constantini and Amos Mosaner, cruised past South Korea 8-4 in the morning session, but their unbeaten record came to an end in a shocking 7-2 defeat to Canada's Brett Gallant and Jocelyn Peterman. The Canadians, making their mixed doubles debut at the Games, put on an impressive display, capitalizing on a poor start by the Italians. Gallant's team took a commanding 5-0 lead after the first end, and despite Mosaner's efforts, they were unable to recover. "It went terrible in the first end for me," Mosaner admitted. "We gave up five in the first end, but I have to accept I missed the shots and they played better.
