The Jacksonville Jaguars are on a roll, having won five consecutive games since their 36-19 win over the Indianapolis Colts on December 7. In contrast, the Colts have lost five straight, including a 48-27 defeat to the San Francisco 49ers on Monday. This downturn has put the Colts on the brink of elimination, with their only hope of claiming the final AFC wild-card spot being a combination of winning out, having the Houston Texans lose out, and several other favorable results. The Jaguars' offense has been firing on all cylinders, with quarterback Trevor Lawrence extending his interception-free streak to four games and setting a career high with 26 touchdown passes this season. Receiver Parker Washington has been a key contributor, recording 10 catches for 145 yards and a touchdown in the team's last game, taking over the team lead with 645 yards and four touchdown receptions. The Colts, led by quarterback Philip Rivers, have been struggling to contain opponents' offenses. Their defense has allowed 40-plus points at home for the first time since 2020, and they could be getting a key piece back with the potential return of star cornerback Sauce Gardner, who has been out with a calf strain. The Colts will need to bounce back quickly, as they face a daunting task in taking down the Jaguars, who have been playing some of their best football of the season. 'We've got a great opportunity against a division opponent,' said Colts coach Shane Steichen. 'We take it one day at a time, but we've got a hell of a challenge this week.'
