New York - In a shocking incident, Kris Boyd, a New York Jets player, was shot in the abdomen last month after a confrontation with a group of men in midtown Manhattan. According to the New York Police Department, Frederick Green, 20, a Bronx resident, has been charged with attempted murder, assault, and criminal possession of a weapon in connection with the shooting. The incident occurred on November 16, just after 2 a.m., when Boyd and two of his Jets teammates, Irvin Charles and Jamien Sherwood, left a club and were approached by a group of men who mocked their clothing. A fight broke out, and Boyd was shot, although he and his friends were unarmed. Despite being hospitalized, Boyd made a remarkable recovery and was seen visiting the Jets' facility a few weeks later, surprising his teammates. Boyd, who was signed by the Jets earlier this year, has yet to play for the team due to an injury sustained during practice. He played his first four seasons in the NFL with the Minnesota Vikings before joining the Arizona Cardinals and later Houston's practice squad. Green is expected to appear in court later this week, and it's unclear if he has retained an attorney.
