A 3-year-old boy from India, Sarwagya Singh Kushwaha, has made history by becoming the youngest chess player to earn a FIDE rating. Born in 2022, Kushwaha achieved a rapid chess rating of 1572, surpassing the minimum rating of 1400. This impressive milestone was shared on social media by chess player Rakesh Kulkarni, who congratulated Kushwaha on his achievement. Kushwaha's remarkable journey began when he was just 2.5 years old. His father, Siddharth, noticed his son's exceptional ability to absorb new information and encouraged him to play chess. Kushwaha spends four to five hours daily playing the game, one hour at a coaching centre, and watches instructional videos to improve his skills. In a short span of time, Kushwaha has won five out of eight rated matches against players of various ages, including 22-year-old Abhijeet Awasthi (1542), 29-year-old Shubham Chourasiya (1559), and 20-year-old Yogesh Namdev (1696). Kushwaha's dedication and patience have set him apart from other children his age, with his father attributing his success to his ability to focus and learn quickly.
