Heading into the PGA Championship, several champions who won't be traveling to Aronimink this week are making waves in their future. Their stories highlight the importance of perseverance, a vital characteristic in every sphere of life, especially in sports.

One such champion is Yurav Premlall, a 23-year-old South African of Indian origin who broke all existing Tour records with a stunning 14-shot victory margin at the Estrella Damm Catalunya Championship. He missed being on the same pedestal as Tiger Woods by just one shot.

Premlall was playing on a Category 18 card before his win, having finished tied 98th in the final stage of the Qualifying School last year. He bounced back from a disappointing start with a 64 on Friday and then smashed back-to-back 63s over the weekend to finish on 28-under par.

Other champions who defied odds include American Jhared Hack, who won the Italian Challenge Open despite a disappointing weekend, and Chris Wood, who overcame a debilitating back injury to win the same event. Pukhraj Singh Gill, an Indian champion, recorded his first away title at the ADT Players Championship presented by The R&A.

On the PGA Tour, Norwegian Kristoffer Reitan won a Signature event, improving his world ranking to No25 and his bank balance by $3.6 million. Meanwhile, Snedekker won at Myrtle Beach, his first since 2018.
