In a heart-stopping moment during the Armed Forces Bowl on Friday, Rice Owls senior safety Daveon Hook suffered a frightening collision with a Texas State blocker. The incident occurred with 1:16 left in the third quarter as Hook closed in on a tackle. He was stretchered off the field after a 10-minute pause, leaving fans, players, and staff members on edge. Fortunately, head coach Scott Abell provided a positive update after the game, stating that medical staff took an intentionally cautious approach. According to Abell, Hook had full feeling and movement in all areas of his body when he was taken off the field. Although Abell was cautious not to speculate on Hook's condition, he confirmed that the injured player spoke to him before leaving the field and appeared to be moving normally. "We'll get him checked out, and hopefully, he is all good," Abell said. The Rice community will be eagerly awaiting news on Hook's condition, but for now, it seems like a positive outcome is possible after a harrowing incident.
