The US has relaxed its travel restrictions for the Iranian national football team, allowing them an extra day to prepare for their upcoming FIFA World Cup match in Seattle.
According to a Department of Homeland Security spokesperson, the team will be permitted to enter the US two days before the match, a change from the initial 24-hour notice.
However, the team will still need to leave shortly after the game, as overall security measures and protocols remain unchanged.
The Iranian team has been training in Tijuana, Mexico, and has expressed frustration with the travel restrictions, with head coach Amir Ghalenoei claiming that his side was the 'most oppressed team' at the tournament.
The team faces Egypt in its final group-stage game, while Egypt's plans to travel directly from Vancouver to Seattle were turned down by local authorities.
