Dark Twists and Troubling Signs: Nick Reiner's Colleague Recalls 'Disturbing' Behavior
Nick Reiner's ex-colleague revealed details about Rob Reiner's son's past behavior, recalling thinking he was a "dark, twisted, kind of rough kid.”
The investigation into the December 14 murders of filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife Michele Singer Reiner continues to unfold. A former colleague of Nick Reiner, their son, has come forward with disturbing insights into Nick's behavior.
According to the production assistant, who worked with Nick on the animated sitcom Family Guy in 2014, Nick exhibited concerning signs even back then. At the time, Nick was a young intern fresh out of rehab, and his father, Rob, would often drop him off and pick him up from work. The colleague described Nick as a 'dark, twisted, and rough kid' with a 'very dark sense of humor.'
Despite his troubled past, including periods of homelessness and addiction, Nick's colleague remembered him as a 'funny and human' person. However, he noted that Nick was not in a stable mental state and was 'not in the best mental health space' even during their time working together.
The colleague, who remained friends with Nick on social media, revealed that he almost reached out to Nick after learning about the murders. However, he was shocked to discover that Nick was the one arrested at the scene.
Nick Reiner has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder with special allegations, making him eligible for severe penalties, including life in prison or the death penalty. The murders occurred after tensions between Nick and his father reportedly boiled over at a Christmas party hosted by Conan O'Brien the night before, where Nick's erratic behavior alarmed guests.
