A devastating five-alarm fire swept through the Crossfield Products Corporation, a flooring company on Valley Road in Roselle Park, New Jersey, on Thursday evening. Emergency crews battled the blaze, which remained active as of 9 p.m. EDT, with multiple explosions reported due to propane tanks. No one was inside the building when the fire started, but nearby residents were evacuated as a precaution. The Roselle Park police department urged residents to avoid the area near Westfield Avenue and Valley Road, citing potential air quality issues due to heavy smoke. Road closures were implemented in nearby Cranford, with North Avenue shut down in both directions. However, the Garden State Parkway entrances and exits in Cranford remained accessible. Crossfield Products, a 50-year-old Roselle Park business, manufactures resin for floors and oil-based paints. Mayor Joseph Signorello stated that 'there were a lot of explosions internally,' but fortunately, no one was injured inside the building. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
