A newly emerged clip appears to show one of the helicopters spinning out of control before going down.
A devastating helicopter crash in New Jersey has left one person dead and another critically injured. The incident occurred on Sunday when two Enstrom helicopters collided mid-air over the Hammonton Municipal Airport in Atlantic County. According to eyewitnesses, the pilots were the only ones on board, with one fatality reported and the other taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.
A video from the scene captures the heart-stopping moment when one of the helicopters spins rapidly out of control before crashing to the ground. Emergency responders were quick to extinguish flames engulfing one of the aircraft.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has described the incident as a mid-air collision between an Enstrom F-28A and an Enstrom 280C helicopter. An investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
Resident Dan Dameshek, who witnessed the incident, described the horrific scene: 'The first helicopter went from right side up to upside down and started rapidly spinning, falling out of the air. The second helicopter seemed fine for a second, and then it sounded like another snap or something... and then that helicopter started rapidly spinning out of the air.'
The Hammonton Fire Department and emergency services responded to the incident, urging people to avoid the area to allow safe operation. The investigation is ongoing, with the FAA working to determine the cause of the tragic accident.
