India has expressed deep concern over escalating violence in Nepal, which has left at least 19 people dead and hundreds injured. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has urged all sides to exercise restraint and resolve differences through peaceful dialogue. In a statement, the MEA said it is "deeply saddened" by the loss of young lives and is closely monitoring the situation. The Indian government has advised its nationals in Nepal to exercise caution and follow local guidelines, amidst reports of curfews reimposed in several cities. The unrest began after the government lifted a ban on social media platforms, sparking violent protests between security forces and demonstrators. Protesters, many of whom are students, are demanding Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli's resignation, accusing his government of authoritarianism and corruption.Personal accounts from those affected have heightened public anger, with some accusing the government of brutal suppression. Despite Prime Minister Oli's assurances, including an investigation panel and financial relief for victims' families, the protests show no signs of abating, with many demonstrators vowing to continue until Oli steps down.
