The highly anticipated sequel to Nandamuri Balakrishna's 2021 blockbuster, Akhanda 2: Thaandavam, has been delayed. Initially set to release on December 5, the makers have now announced that the film will not meet its scheduled release date. In a statement on X, distributor 14 Reels Plus apologized to fans, citing 'unexpected circumstances' as the reason for the postponement. While the makers have not specified the cause of the delay, an ongoing court case may be the issue. Eros International Media Limited has been pursuing a court order against 14 Reels Entertainment Private Limited over a ₹28 crore debt, plus interest. The Madras High Court has passed an order to prevent the release of Akhanda 2 until clearance is given. Directed by Boyapati Srinu and starring Balakrishna, Samyuktha, Aadhi Pinishetty, and Harshaali Malhotra, the film's soundtrack, composed by Thaman S, had received a positive response from fans. Although the release date has been pushed back, the makers remain optimistic, assuring fans that Akhanda 2 will 'hit the bullseye whenever it arrives.' A new release date is expected to be announced soon.
