A year after the tragic stampede at Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad, the family of Sritej, an 8-year-old who was severely injured, is still struggling to make ends meet. Despite promises of a ₹2 crore ex gratia payment from Allu Arjun's team, Sritej's father, Magudampalli Bhaskar, claims that they have received little to no assistance. Sritej, who spent 146 days in the hospital and months in a neuro-rehabilitation centre, requires ₹90,000 in monthly medical expenses, not including additional costs. His father has to care for his son, daughter, and aged mother alone, and has even quit his job at a gold shop to do so. The family claims that the interest from the ₹2 crore deposit made by Allu Arjun's team is not sufficient to cover their expenses, which have mounted to ₹1.25 lakh per month. Bhaskar has attempted to contact the actor and his team for further assistance, but says he received no response. When contacted by Hindustan Times, a spokesperson for Allu Arjun stated that they are following a system to allocate the funds, and that Sritej's family can contact the 'pedda manushulu' involved if they are dissatisfied. The incident occurred on December 4, 2024, when a stampede broke out at Sandhya Theatre after Allu Arjun visited the location. The actor was arrested and later released on bail, and his team promised to cover the medical expenses of the victim. A year on, Sritej's family is still waiting for the promised assistance, and is now speaking out against the alleged neglect by Allu Arjun's team. The incident has sparked outrage on social media, with many calling for the actor to take responsibility for the family's well-being.
