The release of actor-politician Vijay's final film, Jana Nayagan, continues to face uncertainty due to its tussle with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). Filmmaker Ameer Sultan has commented on the issue, claiming a political angle is driving the delay.
Ameer Sultan stated that he doesn't recall any instance where the Censor Board required a film to be reviewed by the Election Commission, suggesting a significant political angle is concealed in the delay. He cited examples of previous films facing controversy, but the Censor Board not clearly stating the issue.
Jana Nayagan was initially scheduled for a theatrical release on January 9 but was postponed indefinitely after failing to secure its censor certificate in time. The film has been stuck without a censor certificate for several months, with reports indicating that the film was first screened for the CBFC examining committee in December 2025.
Directed by H Vinoth, the film stars actors Vijay, Prakash Raj, Pooja Hegde, and Mamitha Baiju, among others. Jana Nayagan is Vijay's final film, as he intends to focus on his political career with his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam.
