The wife of KD: The Devil director Prem has spoken out against the backlash surrounding the song Sarke Chunar, calling it selective outrage. Rakshita, a former actress, took to Instagram to address the controversy, saying that when songs like Choli ke Peeche or 100s like these came out, they seemed fine. She questioned why one song is creating massive news while others with similar content were not.
Rakshita also defended her husband's work, saying that just because of one song, his entire body of work cannot be questioned and diminished. She added that people should have basic knowledge on how to talk about others and that abusing someone for their work shows the 'other reality of social media'.
The song Sarke Chunar has come under fire for its suggestive lyrics and choreography, with several celebrities and organizations slamming it for its objectionable content. An advocate has approached the CBFC seeking an immediate ban and removal of the song, while a criminal complaint has been filed with the Delhi Police Cyber Cell.
KD The Devil is set to release in theatres on April 30.
