Social media has been abuzz over the song 'Chunar Teri Sarke' from the upcoming film KD The Devil, which features Nora Fatehi and Sanjay Dutt. The song's lyrics have been widely condemned for their explicit content.
Raqueeb Alam, the lyricist credited for the song, has denied writing the lyrics, stating that they were actually written by the film's director Prem in Kannada. Alam claims he refused to write the lyrics, saying they wouldn't work and would likely be censored.
Alam further claims that he was asked to simply translate the Kannada version into Hindi, without altering the content. He has expressed his humiliation over the situation, pointing out that he has written many other successful songs, including 'Chikri Chikri' for Ram Charan's film Peddi and the Hindi versions of songs from 'Pushpa'.
The official song version has been removed from YouTube, and Alam claims that the makers have requested him to write a fresh version with clean lyrics, which he has done. The new version is set to be released on Tuesday evening, along with an apology note.
The incident has sparked shock and outrage within the industry, with singer Armaan Malik and filmmaker Onir expressing their disappointment and disgust over the song's lyrics.
