IndiGo's technical glitch caused widespread disruptions across the country, resulting in the cancellation of at least 70 flights from Bengaluru and Mumbai on Wednesday. The cancellations were attributed to technology issues, airport congestion, and operational requirements. However, officials pointed to a crew shortage caused by the implementation of new Flight Duty Time Limitations (FDTL) regulations from November 1. Singer Rahul Vaidya was among those affected by the glitch. He took to Instagram to share his ordeal, describing it as 'one of the worst days to fly.' Vaidya, who had a show in Kolkata, was forced to purchase multiple Air India tickets worth ₹4.2 lakhs for a domestic trip. Thousands of passengers faced frustration due to delays, cancellations, and chaos at airports caused by the technical glitch in check-in systems and operational troubles. Airlines, including Air India, Akasa Air, and SpiceJet, faced delayed flights after an outage in check-in systems using the Amadeus software globally. IndiGo has apologized to its customers for the inconvenience caused by the disruptions. The airline acknowledged that its operations have been significantly disrupted across the network for the past two days. The incident highlights the need for airlines to improve their operational efficiency and minimize disruptions.
