Kalyani Priyadarshan, daughter of filmmaker Priyadarshan and actress Kalyani, won hearts with her portrayal of the superhero Chandra in Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra. However, in a recent interview, Kalyani revealed that she initially doubted her ability to play the character. Just one week into filming, she called the film's producer, Dulquer Salmaan, expressing her concerns. Kalyani felt that she was struggling to grasp the character's impassive nature, which was a departure from her usual animated personality. Kalyani's biggest fear was that her character's robotic demeanor would be misinterpreted as a lackluster performance. She was concerned that audiences might not understand Chandra, as Indian cinema often portrays stone-cold men, but rarely women. However, the film's success proved her wrong, and she learned a valuable lesson about not making assumptions about the audience. Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra, a 2025 Malayalam-language superhero film, tells the story of Chandra, a mysterious woman who arrives in Bengaluru to fight evil. The film, directed by Dominic Arun and produced by Dulquer Salmaan, also stars Naslen, Sandy, Arun Kurian, and Chandu Salim Kumar. Despite a slow start at the box office, the film's strong word-of-mouth contributed to its remarkable growth, collecting ₹303.67 crore worldwide on a budget of ₹30 crore, making it a blockbuster.
