The biopic, directed by Jasmeet K Reen, is being produced by Sony Pictures Entertainment, Brewing Thoughts Private Limited, and Madhubala Pictures Pvt. Limited.
Madhubala, a renowned Indian actor, ruled the cine screen in the 1950s. She began her acting career as a child artist at eight and made her female lead debut in 1947 with Neel Kamal. Her success led to numerous projects, including hits like Mr. & Mrs. '55, Raj Hath, Kala Pani, Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi, and Howrah Bridge.
By the mid-50s, Madhubala was among the highest-paid actors in India, with only three male actors charging more than her. Her most successful film, Mughal-e-Azam, was released in 1960, but a congenital heart defect curtailed her career. She succumbed to her illness in 1969 at the age of 36.
