In a stunning turn of events, the highly anticipated Telugu film Akhanda 2, starring Nandamuri Balakrishna, has been indefinitely postponed due to a Madras High Court order. The court issued a stay on the film's release, citing an ongoing legal dispute between the film's production house, 14 Reels Plus, and Eros International Media Limited. The court's decision came after Eros appealed to the Madras High Court, claiming that 14 Reels Plus owes the company nearly ₹28 crore along with 14 per cent interest. The production house had initially faced a prolonged legal battle over a previous arbitration decision that went in favour of Eros. Just hours before the film's paid premieres were set to begin, the production house announced that the events had been cancelled due to 'technical issues'. However, later that night, they revealed that the film's release had been postponed indefinitely due to 'unavoidable circumstances'. In a statement on social media, the production house expressed their regret over the postponement and apologized for the inconvenience caused to fans. They promised to share a positive update soon and are working tirelessly to resolve the matter at the earliest. Akhanda 2, directed by Boyapati Srinu, was set to hit theaters on December 5, but its release date has now been put on hold. The film also features Samyuktha, Aadhi Pinishetty, and Harshaali Malhotra in key roles, with Thaman S composing the soundtrack. The makers have yet to announce a new release date for the film.
