Actor-model Neeru Sehgal recently played Loveleen in Season 2 of Netflix's breakout series Kohrra, headlined by Mona Singh and Barun Sobti. In an interview with Hindustan Times, she expresses gratitude and quiet excitement over the web series' success. Neeru opens up about transitioning to acting from pageantry, playing a vulnerable role in Kohrra 2, and working with Mahesh Babu.
Neeru grew up in the US but stayed connected to her Punjabi roots, which shaped her approach to work. She was a pageant queen before foraying into acting, citing it as a confidence-booster and platform. However, acting was always her true calling.
In Kohrra 2, Neeru plays Loveleen, a woman deeply in love with Sam (Rannvijay Singha), who finds himself embroiled in the murder case of his wife, Preet Bajwa (Pooja Bhamrrah). Neeru auditioned for the role and sent a self-tape with the script in hand.
Kohrra, a police procedural, peels back the layers to expose the underbelly of Punjab, tackling heavy themes like sexism and casteism. Neeru's character carries a quiet strength, which she found powerful to portray.
Neeru is basking in the success of Kohrra 2 and would like to continue picking roles that are layered and emotionally honest. She also expresses interest in working in the South, citing a great learning experience while shooting an advert with Mahesh Babu in 2024.
