Ranveer Singh's Dhurandhar 2 has made a phenomenal start at the box office, shattering all records with a ₹145 crore opening day. The film, directed by Aditya Dhar, has become the first Bollywood film to cross the ₹100 crore net mark on day one.
The film's release on Thursday, March 19, was preceded by paid previews on Wednesday evening, which earned ₹43 crore net domestically. This gave Dhurandhar 2 a significant cushion for day one, making a ₹100 crore opening easily possible.
With just morning and afternoon shows, Dhurandhar 2 has registered the largest opening in Bollywood history, beating the openings of Stree 2, Pathaan, Animal, and Jawan. The film has also set the all-time record in opening for Bollywood, with only Pushpa 2's ₹164 crore opening ahead of it.
Dhurandhar 2 brings back Ranveer Singh, R Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, Sara Arjun, and Rakesh Bedi, and is expected to do even better than its predecessor, which earned ₹1300 crore worldwide.
