Ranveer Singh's latest film, Dhurandhar, has stunned the trade with its ₹27 crore opening day, the highest of his career. The spy thriller, based on true events, was expected to earn ₹18-20 crore but its impressive start has led to an increase in shows, with many cinemas in Mumbai now screening the film around the clock. In Mumbai, several cinemas have added late-night and early-morning shows, with PVR Sangam and Eros leading the way. PVR Sangam has a 1:50 AM show, while Eros has an IMAX version at 6 AM. Other cinemas like PVR Citi Mall, MovieMax Sion, and Metro INOX have also scheduled early morning shows. Notably, Maxus Cinema Bhayandar and Borivali Maxus are screening the film almost nonstop with 8 and 6 shows respectively in the late-night/early-morning period. Dhurandhar's strong opening can be attributed to positive word of mouth, despite a relatively low advance booking collection of ₹14 crore. However, there have been unsubstantiated reports of manipulated figures through block bookings. The film, directed by Aditya Dhar, is a spy thriller set in Pakistan in the early 2000s, where Ranveer plays an Indian spy dismantling the gangs of Lyari, alongside Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, and R Madhavan.
