Ranveer Singh's highly anticipated film Dhurandhar has made a strong start at the box office, collecting ₹21.77 crore on its opening day in India. The spy thriller, directed by Aditya Dhar, had a slow start with morning shows registering under 16% occupancy. However, positive reviews and word of mouth helped boost foot traffic, with afternoon shows seeing an occupancy of over 28%. According to Sacnilk, the film's opening day collection has surpassed the ₹15-18 crore predictions from trade insiders. Dhurandhar has now become Ranveer Singh's best opening film in the pandemic era, outperforming 83 and Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. It has also beaten the 2025 blockbuster Saiyaara, but still lags behind Chhaava's ₹31 crore haul. Dhurandhar, set in Pakistan during the early 2000s, follows the story of an Indian spy played by Ranveer Singh, who dismantles the Lyari gangs. The film, based on true incidents, also stars Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, and R Madhavan. Dhurandhar was released in 5000 screens across India on Friday, and its opening day collection is expected to give it a decent start. As the film continues to receive positive reviews, its box office collection is likely to improve in the coming days.
