Bobby Deol's film Bandar has been creating a buzz for its thought-provoking subject, dealing with the aftermath of false harassment allegations. A special screening was held in Delhi, attended by real-life victims of false accusations, including Capt. Rakesh Walia, Dhiraj Gupta, and Krishan Sharma.
The film, directed by Anurag Kashyap, explores how public perception and media narratives often presume guilt, reversing the principle of 'innocent until proven guilty.' The accused face a long battle to prove innocence, enduring social ostracism, incarceration, and damage to their reputation and personal life.
The screening was organized by the Ekam Nyaay Foundation, an NGO that helps men victimized by false accusations. The event received widespread appreciation from the viewers, with advocates describing the film as a 'need of the hour.' The victims present called it a startlingly accurate portrayal of their experiences.
Nikhil Dwivedi, the producer of Bandar, stated that the film aims to initiate a conversation about justice and due process, highlighting the importance of not condemning someone for a crime they may not have committed.
