Samajwadi Party MP Afzal Ansari has criticized the makers of Dhurandhar 2 for their portrayal of gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed.
Atiq Ahmed was killed in April 2023, along with his brother Khalid Azeem aka Ashraf.
Afzal Ansari stated that the film industry uses real-life individuals to earn money at the box office, and that the makers of Dhurandhar 2 cashed in on Atiq Ahmed's name for the sake of their film's success.
The film's casting director, Mukesh Chhabra, had previously spoken about finding lookalikes for the characters, including Atiq Ahmed and Nawaz Sharif.
Dhurandhar 2 has minted ₹575.67 crore in India and ₹900 crore globally since its release on March 19.
