Meghan Metcalf, the mother of Austin Metcalf, delivered a heart-wrenching statement in court after Karmelo Anthony was sentenced to 35 years in prison for the fatal stabbing of her 17-year-old son.

She expressed the profound sense of loss she feels, saying her conversations with her son are now one-sided and that she has to accept that he's walking above her.

Addressing Anthony directly, she stated, 'You should feel lucky you got 35 because I've been given a life sentence,' conveying the enduring sorrow she will face following the tragic loss of her son.

The stabbing incident occurred during a high school track meet in April 2025, and Anthony was apprehended and asserted that he acted in self-defense.
