Cardi B has expressed her outrage over the 35-year prison sentence handed to Karmelo Anthony, who was convicted of murdering 17-year-old Austin Metcalf in 2025. The rapper took to her livestream on Spaces to share her thoughts on the case, suggesting that the verdict was influenced by racial bias.

Anthony, who claimed he acted in self-defense, was sentenced to 35 years in prison for the murder of Metcalf, a white teenager who had asked him to leave a high school track meet. Cardi B argued that the case would have had a different outcome if Anthony were white and surrounded by black football players.

She also questioned the circumstances of the confrontation, suggesting that Metcalf should have involved an adult instead of escalating the situation himself. Cardi B further criticized the jury's speed in reaching a verdict and argued that they should have considered manslaughter instead of murder.

The rapper also expressed her concerns about how self-defense is applied in such cases and asked when it is actually recognized under the law. She concluded by advising her sons to avoid arguing with white boys, as there is no law protecting them in such situations.
