An incident near the George Washington University Hospital in Washington D.C. prompted an active police response Thursday afternoon.
The Daily Caller reports that the DC police are investigating a suspicious package near the university hospital.
However, no details about the incident have been officially released by authorities.
A spokesperson from the George Washington Hospital informed Ht.com that the hospital was not on lockdown.
"All hospital operations are functioning normally," the representative said.
The report by The Daily Caller cited a spokesperson with the DC Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) who said that a suspicious package was located at the intersection of 23rd Street and I Street Northwest, and they were probing it as a hazmat situation.
People were asked to avoid the area, and the intersection was shut.
George Washington University Hospital is a 395-bed academic medical center in Washington, D.C., affiliated with the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences.
It is a Level I Trauma Center and offers many specialized services.
