A magnitude 6.7 earthquake struck off the southern Philippines just a day after a massive quake in Venezuela killed hundreds.
The USGS reported the quake hit at 7:42 pm (1142 GMT) at a depth of 65.7 kilometres (41 miles) about 21 kilometres southwest of Mindanao island's Sarangani town.
In Venezuela, the death toll from two powerful earthquakes rose to 589, with 2,980 injured, acting President Delcy Rodríguez said.
The state of La Guaira has been hardest hit, with more than 250 buildings damaged and the country's main international airport severely damaged.
At least five other Venezuelan states have been impacted, with over 49,000 people unaccounted for, according to a website set up by the opposition.
