Iran launched attacks in Bahrain and Kuwait, prompting air raid sirens to sound across the Gulf region and beyond. The strikes came in response to US airstrikes on Iranian targets, which were triggered by the crash of a US Army helicopter near the Strait of Hormuz.

The US military said its fighter jets carried out strikes on Iranian air defense, ground control stations, and surveillance radar sites. Iran acknowledged attacks around Bandar Abbas and Qeshm Island, but did not disclose the extent of the damage.

Bahrain and Kuwait activated emergency alerts and fired air defense systems in response to the Iranian attacks. Jordanian officials confirmed that five Iranian missiles were shot down after targeting an air base hosting US troops.

The conflict between the US and Iran has been ongoing since February 28, with efforts to turn the April ceasefire into a lasting peace agreement failing so far.
