At least 13 people, including 11 children, were killed and 14 others were wounded in fresh airstrikes by Pakistan, said Afghanistan on Wednesday.

The airstrikes targeted Khost, Kunar and Paktika provinces in Afghanistan, according to Taliban chief spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid.

Pakistan has not yet acknowledged the strikes, which come a day after suspected Pakistani Taliban militants attacked a security post near the Afghanistan border.

The assault triggered a fierce gunbattle that left six Federal Constabulary personnel dead and several others injured, according to Pakistan's Interior Ministry.

Months of tensions between the two countries have resulted in hundreds of deaths, despite a brief China-brokered ceasefire.
