A massive grass and brush fire, dubbed the Paradise Creek Fire, has broken out in South Canyon near Glenwood Springs, forcing the closure of I-70.

The fire, estimated to be around 20 acres in size, has led to the shutdown of both directions of the highway, with travelers stuck in their vehicles.

According to local reports, two helicopters and two fixed-wing aircraft are en route to assist with suppression efforts, with a type 3 helicopter and Large Air Tanker (LAT) already on the scene.

A local meteorologist noted that the fire has rapid growth potential due to the hot and windy conditions in the area.

A traveler shared their experience of getting stuck on the road due to the Paradise Creek Fire, describing the scene as 'chaotic'.
