A Howard University professor is facing criticism for an article that blamed Austin Metcalf's father for the teenager's death in the Karmelo Anthony case.

Dr. Stacey Patton's article, titled "Dear Jeff Metcalf: Your Son Is Dead Because You Failed to Teach Him That Black Boys Have Boundaries," criticized Jeff Metcalf's comments during a courtroom victim-impact statement.

Patton argued that Metcalf's language pointed to racial and cultural attitudes in the US, particularly surrounding white masculinity and entitlement.

The article referenced past high-profile cases involving Black victims, including Trayvon Martin, Michael Brown, and Tamir Rice.

Patton directly addressed Jeff Metcalf, saying "You failed your son," and argued that Austin Metcalf had been raised without understanding his boundaries and autonomy.

The article sparked outrage on social media, with critics accusing Patton of blaming Austin Metcalf and justifying violence.
