Tornado Warning Issued in Stillwater, Oklahoma: Residents Share Scary Videos

A severe thunderstorm warning was issued for Stillwater, Oklahoma on June 26, and residents reported hearing tornado sirens go off.

A severe thunderstorm warning was issued for Stillwater, Oklahoma on June 26. The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a notification for wind gusts to 70 MPH. Oklahoma State University shared a tornado warning for the OSU-Stillwater campus and advised residents to take appropriate tornado precautions.

Residents heard tornado sirens go off, and storm chasers shared videos of the destruction from strong winds. Perkins Emergency Management noted that a tornado warning was in place for Payne County, including Southeastern Noble County and North central Payne County.

The government warned of damage from flying debris, mobile homes, roofs, windows, and vehicles. Oklahoma State University advised students and staff to seek shelter indoors, away from windows. A single engine plane flipped over at Stillwater airport due to high winds, and downed power poles were reported on the northeast side of Stillwater.

Residents shared their experiences, including a take shelter warning on their phones and loud thunder and lightning. A video showed the situation after a storm with extremely strong winds moved through the Oklahoma city.
