A 24-year-old Indian developer, Tushar Verma, was rejected for a junior developer position at a US-based firm due to his accent, despite the recruiter praising his portfolio and technical skills.

Verma, a resident of Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh, had been actively applying for roles across online platforms after his previous employer faced budget constraints.

He connected with an American recruiter on social media for a job offering a monthly salary of $4,000 (approximately ₹3.3 lakh), but the opportunity was abruptly cut short over language delivery.

Verma shared that the recruiter liked his work but had an issue with his accent, saying, 'We need an American accent only who can communicate easily.'

Verma's experience has sparked a reaction on social media, with many expressing shock and disappointment at the incident.
