The US Treasury has issued a 60-day license allowing countries to continue purchasing Iranian oil, providing temporary relief from sanctions restrictions.

US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced the move on social media, citing ongoing productive talks in Switzerland between the US and Iran.

As part of the framework, the Treasury has issued a temporary 60-day general license authorizing the production, delivery, and sale of Iranian oil.

The license, which remains in effect through August 21, permits all 'necessary' transactions related to the production, sale, delivery, or offloading of Iranian oil and energy products.
