US Vice President JD Vance expressed admiration for Pakistani leadership's role in advancing US-Iran peace talks, praising Pakistani Army Chief Asim Munir for his statesmanship.

Vance made the comments during the Quadrilateral Meeting in Switzerland, involving Pakistan, Qatar, Iran, and the US.

He jokingly said that over the past three months, two important people in his life have been his Indian wife and Pakistani Army Chief Munir, with whom he has spoken more frequently than anyone else.

Vance credited Munir's diplomatic efforts for helping the US and Iran reach a stage of negotiations, saying he has shown himself to be a great diplomat and an amazing friend of the US.

The US VP said the key objectives of recent diplomatic efforts had been achieved, including reopening the Strait of Hormuz and securing commitments from Iran on its nuclear programme.

He emphasized the focus has now shifted to determining how much further progress can be made and whether the moment can be used to fundamentally reshape relations in the Middle East.
