Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced that nearly ₹2,000 crore has been returned to its rightful owners under the 'Your Money, Your Right' initiative, launched by the Union government in October 2025. This scheme aims to help citizens reclaim their forgotten financial assets. Modi shared the statistics on LinkedIn, highlighting that Indian banks are holding ₹78,000 crore in unclaimed money, insurance companies have nearly ₹14,000 crore, and mutual fund companies have around ₹3,000 crore. Additionally, dividends worth ₹9,000 crore are also unclaimed. To facilitate the process, the government has set up dedicated portals for citizens to track and claim their funds, including the RBI's UDGAM Portal, IRDAI's Bima Bharosa Portal, SEBI's MITRA Portal, and the Ministry of Corporate Affairs' IEPFA Portal. The PM has also organized facilitation camps in 477 districts across rural and urban areas, focusing on remote regions to ensure maximum coverage and accessibility. Through these efforts, nearly ₹2,000 crore has been returned to its rightful owners. Modi urged citizens to assist in scaling up the movement by checking for unclaimed deposits, insurance proceeds, dividends, or investments. He encouraged the use of dedicated portals and facilitation camps to claim what is rightfully theirs. The 'Your Money, Your Right' initiative is part of the government's broader efforts to bolster its relationship of faith with the public. Modi emphasized that this is not just a matter of returning assets but a question of faith, and the government is committed to earning the public's trust. By working together, the PM said, we can build a transparent, financially empowered, and inclusive India where every citizen can reclaim what is rightfully theirs.
