More than 2 million medical aspirants appeared for the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test for Undergraduate (NEET-UG) 2026 re-examination on Sunday across 5,440 centres in India and 14 abroad under extensive security arrangements.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) announced the re-examination on May 15 after receiving an email on May 8 alleging a leak and noting overlaps between a circulated guess paper and the May 3 question paper.

NTA did not release the exact number of candidates who downloaded admit cards or appeared for the June 21 re-examination, but officials said nearly 2.1 million admit cards were downloaded and over 2 million candidates appeared for the examination today.

Candidates who appeared for the examination at various Delhi centres said they found Physics to be the toughest of the three sections and spent most of their time on that section.

NTA said that "extensive arrangements" were made for all candidates, including more than 10,000 people with disabilities (PwDs) and "special arrangements" were put in place for around 81 candidates with medical conditions.

However, some students missed their test after arriving late at the examination centres in Bengaluru and Delhi, and parents across several examination centres in Delhi waited outside for hours, with some saying the arrangements were insufficient.
