A long-running dispute over sand mining turned deadly in Chhattisgarh’s Korea district when a 60-year-old man and two others were killed after their vehicle came under attack in Katgodi village.
The victims were travelling in two vehicles when they were intercepted by members of a rival group, who allegedly ambushed them and repeatedly rammed one of the vehicles, an SUV, with a truck.
The SUV was badly damaged, trapping those inside, and as it caught fire, some passengers tried to break the windows and flee but were assaulted by the attackers.
Four members of the Tripathi family have been arrested in connection with the case, and efforts are underway to trace and apprehend the remaining suspects.
