In the wake of the devastating fire at a Goa nightclub that claimed 25 lives, police in Noida and Gurugram have launched a massive inspection drive to ensure public safety measures are in place. The drive, which began on Tuesday, targets bars, restaurants, and entertainment venues across the districts. Around 50 establishments have been inspected so far in Gautam Buddh Nagar, with teams from various departments, including fire services, excise, and electrical safety, identifying potential fire and electrical hazards. Chief Fire Officer Pradeep Kumar said the inspections focus on critical safety aspects, such as emergency exit doors, fire safety equipment, and electrical wiring. In Gurugram, police have also intensified security arrangements ahead of the New Year celebrations. Commissioner Vikas Kumar Arora said teams have been deployed at all 36 police stations to monitor security management and ensure prompt response to any situation. All DCPs and SHOs will personally oversee security arrangements to guarantee a safe environment for visitors. The authorities have warned owners of bars and restaurants to adhere to strict safety standards, warning that any compromise with public safety will not be tolerated. The inspection drive aims to provide a safe environment for people to enjoy New Year celebrations at these venues. The Goa nightclub fire on December 6, which killed 25 people, including five tourists, highlighted multiple safety violations, including the absence of a mandatory fire department no-objection certificate. The tragedy has prompted authorities to take swift action to prevent similar incidents in the future.
