Former AIADMK minister C Vijayabaskar has resigned as MLA and submitted a letter to Tamil Nadu Assembly Speaker JCD Prabhakar. The resignation comes amid an escalating rebellion within the AIADMK ranks. Vijayabaskar, a former health minister, was among the rebel leaders who voted in favor of the TVK regime in the trust vote held in the Assembly on May 13.

He was one of the four former AIADMK ministers who joined the ruling TVK, citing a lack of respect and internal democracy within the AIADMK. Vijayabaskar's resignation marks the latest setback for the AIADMK, which has struggled to contain internal dissent following its defeat in the Assembly elections.
