Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has given a December 12 deadline for the submission of the probe report on singer Zubeen Garg's alleged murder. The report, containing over 3,000 documents, will be submitted by the state police's special investigation team (SIT), headed by special DGP (CID) Munna Prasad Gupta. The SIT was formed after Garg's death in Singapore on September 19 and has so far made significant progress, arresting seven individuals, including the singer's cousin and manager. The team has been gathering evidence and is now close to wrapping up the investigation. According to Sarma, the probe report will not only reveal the circumstances surrounding Garg's death but also several other important aspects. The report will include two post-mortem reports, a toxicology report from Singapore Police, and a viscera analysis from the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL). The arrested individuals, including Northeast India Festival organiser Shyamkanu Mahanta, manager Siddharth Sharma, musicians Amritprabha Mahanta and Shekhar Jyoti Goswami, Zubeen's cousin Sandipan Garg, and the singer's PSOs Paresh Baishya and Nandeshwar Bora, have been remanded to judicial custody, which has been extended multiple times. Sarma has emphasized the importance of submitting the chargesheet before December 18, warning that failing to do so could enable the arrested persons to get bail. The chief minister had previously described Garg's death as a 'well-organised murder', hinting at the shocking revelations that the probe report may unveil.
