RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat defended top functionary Dattatreya Hosabale's remarks on keeping a window for dialogue open with Pakistan, saying he was referring to the people, not the country.

Bhagwat said the organisation will follow the Union government's policy regarding Pakistan, but added that there are many people in Pakistan who believe the partition of India was wrong and praise the RSS.

He stressed that if India defeats Pakistan, the people there should be brought into the fold of India or allowed to live peacefully in their own country, and for that, the doors of dialogue need to be kept open.

Bhagwat also clarified that the RSS has no independent foreign policy and follows the central government's stand.
