Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday slammed the DMK and Congress for blocking the women's reservation bill in Parliament, assuring that the NDA would provide 33% reservation for women.
Addressing an election rally in Tamil Nadu, Singh launched a scathing attack on the DMK, saying the party's initials stand for 'Dushprayogam' (misuse of power), 'Muraikedu' (corruption), and 'Kutram' (crime against women).
He appealed to voters to elect BJP candidate Anandhan Ayyasamy in the April 23 elections, promising to restart the sacred tradition of lighting the Karthigai Deepam atop the Thiruparankundram hill if the party comes to power.
Singh alleged that the state government was depriving devotees of their right to offer prayers at Thirupparankundram, promising to ensure the tradition resumes after the formation of the AIADMK-led NDA government.
At another rally, Singh highlighted the establishment of two defence corridors in Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh, and assured that the AIADMK-led BJP would address all the state's ambitions once it forms the government.
He promised to provide ₹9,000 crore as subsidy every year to farmers in Tamil Nadu, and to give a subsidy to empower women, with three new gas cylinders provided free of charge during festivals.
