A student from Rajasthan was allegedly stopped from entering an NEET UG re-exam centre in Ajmer for wearing a burqa, but was later allowed to write the exam after police and NTA clarification.

According to the candidate, she was denied entry into the centre due to her burqa, despite wearing the same attire to the first exam on May 3, where she was not denied entry.

The NTA's NEET-UG exam rules allow candidates to wear articles of faith, subject to reporting at the centre well in advance to enable frisking.

The student's father also claimed that his daughter appeared for the May 3 exam in her burqa, and that the centre refused to call a female staff member to conduct a thorough check.

However, the National Testing Agency stated that the student was allowed to enter the centre and appear for the re-examination.

Ajmer CO North Shivam Joshi said that the dispute occurred due to a 'lack of clarity regarding certain rules', and that the matter was settled after clarification from senior officials.
